May 2024

A Word From Jake:

As we approach the final weeks of the academic term, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to our students and families. With finals just around the corner, please make sure to practice self-care - not only to be ready for your students' needs, but because you deserve it!

Looking ahead, it's important to begin finalizing plans for the summer, as having these arrangements in place early will help everyone transition smoothly. Should you need any resources or support, do not hesitate to reach out to the leadership team. We're here to assist you in any way possible to ensure that you, our students, and our families have a successful end to the school year and a productive summer.

LINKZ Updates:

TutorCruncher:

- I believe that all of the payment order discrepancies have been resolved, but please let us know - as early as possible - if you're still seeing issues on your end.

- In planning for the summer, please try to put your hours in as early as possible, especially if you're working in the office. In doing so, you'll have a greater chance of securing space (the summer is significantly less predictable than the school year), and we'll be able to support you finding space should the office be fully booked.

Office:

- Important: A reminder that all contracts will be changing for Fall 2024 (your contract with LINKZ and your contracts with clients). I'll spell things out more in the Wiki, but here are the general points:

  • The only changes in your contract with LINKZ are language-related, as the definition of "Independent Contractor" has recently changed in the state of Maryland, and the contract now reflects those changes.
  • To that end, client contracts will come from LINKZ directly starting in the fall. LINKZ will send a signed contract to the client first, then to you, then all parties will receive a copy of the contract. There are no changes regarding the content of the contract - you will still dictate your own rates, subjects you want to include in the contract, etc.
  • To summarize: your new contract with LINKZ will have different wording regarding your status as an Independent Contractor, and the origination source of the client contract will shift from you to LINKZ.

- I will include a sample Summer Letter in the Wiki below for your reference. Please feel free to amend as you see fit.

- If you're discontinuing with clients for summer (and/or beyond), please let Michelle, Jenn, Carolyn, and/or I know.

Workshops:

- Please let me know if you have any issues accessing the spreadsheet for the Potluck Dinner on Wednesday, May 22nd @ 6 PM. Excited to see you there!

- Our next Learning @ LINKZ workshop will be in September - enjoy the summer!

- My video for the last Learning @ LINKZ: ADHD & The Work We Do will be up this week (just doing some video editing!)
